GHRP6

GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue with the amino-acid sequence His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2. Comprising six residues, including two D-configured amino acids (D-tryptophan and D-phenylalanine) and a C-terminal amide, its structure is engineered to resist enzymatic degradation and to support binding at its target receptor. It belongs to the first generation of synthetic peptidyl secretagogues developed during research into compounds that stimulate growth hormone release independently of endogenous growth hormone-releasing hormone.

In preclinical and in-vitro studies, GHRP-6 has been investigated as an agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHS-R1a), later identified as the receptor for the endogenous peptide ghrelin. Research models have examined its role in modulating somatotroph signaling and pituitary responsiveness within the growth-hormone axis. Animal and cell-based studies have also explored GHRP-6 in the context of appetite and food-intake regulation, ghrelin-receptor pharmacology, and comparative evaluation of growth hormone secretagogue biology. All such findings derive from laboratory research and have not been established as outcomes in humans.
